It’s been an absolute privilege to represent the 2+ million long haulers in the UK, & many millions more worldwide in writing this book. @daltmann and I hope that it can become an indispensable companion for everyone navigating their recovery journey. And it’s out today! twitter.com/cstone_press/s…

Endothelial dysfunction in COVID-19: an overview of evidence, biomarkers, mechanisms and potential therapies. If this isn't enough to put people off catching Covid then we don't know what is. Public health messaging MUST reflect this. #CovidIsNotOver #WearAMask #LongCovid

Inflammation and dysfunction of the lining of blood vessels—the endothelium—is the basis for many of the cardiovascular complications of Covid. A new, solid review here nature.com/articles/s4140

Great point, and seems ridiculous when you think about it

Why the hell is anyone agreeing to take off their shoes to get on a plane that doesn’t require masks? Safety from shoe bombs but not from #COVID19 or #LongCOVID? Give me a break.

This is not some sort of sick, early Halloween joke. Hoping it will go away with only vaccines is not the solution - surely we have enough evidence of that now?

So for those keeping track: official statistics show 3.4% of the UK, 4.6% of Canada, and 7.5% of the US populations currently have #LongCovid.

I've been trying to write this thread for about six months, but it's a mess. It's full of conjecture. It feels really judgmental. It feels opinionated. It feels uncomfortable. But it's absolutely essential that we open a conversation about medical professionals and covid.

Thank you for mentioning #LongCovid as a contributing factor to issues with the economy and the current and future workforce - whether or not affected directly by its debilitating symptoms, #LongCovid impacts all of us.

The Bank of England no longer wants to be buying bonds but selling them as part of 'quantitative tightening'. And the capacity of the economy has been unexpectedly reduced because of the half a million workers who never rejoined the workforce - partly because of long covid.

This is why we have to stand with and learn from #pwME "Part of what we have to do is really value disability knowledge and disability expertise on what it is to live with a chronic illness, on how to navigate these systems, how to advocate within them."

I'm fuming at the reports today on employers NOT doing the right thing for workers with #LongCovid. Anyone who needs support please see our website, including employers, HCW and colleagues. It's mainly UK but will have some transferability internationally

"The large numbers of those cruelly affected by the long tail of Covid is also having a dangerous impact on health systems and economies still reeling from waves of infections" #LongCovid is a problem for all of us and is preventable. Pretending it doesn't exist helps no one

With Covid cases surging, coupled with factors such as staff shortages and the impact of the cost of living, is the UK on the verge of a similar situation?

With workforce shortages an issue across sectors, one might have hoped that more employers would do more to retain the expertise of people with #LongCovid. Forever grateful to for their flexibility in helping me back to work

1/ We respectfully share insights gathered on U.K. #LongCovidWork issues from the reports people share across social media + directly with us. We are appalled today to hear about the disparity in how some #NHS workers with #LongCovid are being treated within the same Trust
