It's pretty much always easier to make the table in Excel and then copy-paste into the Word doc. I have no idea why, but the formatting is just much easier to work with that way.

Also, format the F out of it in Excel and the Paste As “Image”

Pro tip: Always save your file before attempting to make changes to the table structure in Excel; it can go awry quickly.
