You might have students read the "Informed voters" section of @civicdesign's website. I've used their materials for an election course (esp re ballot design) and students really liked their work. They also sent us booklets that were cute! https://civicdesign.org/

Design can make a huge difference in how people engage with the content of a guide as well. You can have great info, but if it’s not easily scannable & digestible, you lose utility. If hosting online, have a well-designed print option, so users can make notes while they research.

Yep — that’s why we made templates for election officials, including line art for images and icons.
