Would it be possible to create an EAC certified ballot layout program that could be state law compliant and designed with input from election officials, U/X designers,disability advocates and voters?
All of the current EMSs are capable of doing it. We know because we talked to most of the vendors to help Virginia develop their ballot standards.

Then why are there still so many problematic ballot designs out there? You would think every elex department would have you on speed dial!

@civicdesign but really don't think all EMSs can generate ballots per best practices. E.g., if memory serves, GEMS can left align text in all fields (such as jurisdictional-contest headings). In any event, many systems have unique text rendering limitations. - Show replies
