We’ve mapped out what it takes for Americans to vote. Have a look: https://civicdesign.org/the-epic-journey-of-american-voters/ …

Claiming that voting is “hard” implies that it’s the majority experience. Sure, many people would probably like voting to be easier, but that goes for just about any activity that isn’t fun. Maybe time-consuming is a negative feeling that’s more representative of majority.

Sorry, not clear about your point. “Hard” isn’t precise enough? Or something else?

The combo of “hard” being imprecise & “voting in America” being a broad generalization. Voting is so different across the country - all mail ballots in OR, no voter registration in SD, 28 days of early voting in IN. Many examples of voting being less than “hard” on average.

The steps are all basically the same. The question is how much friction it takes to get through each one, and what the burden of each step interacts with in the person’s life. I might point out that OR and SD are definitely exceptions.

I think these visualizations are great! Wait until we start mapping out UOCAVA processes :) One election nerd note: y’all are talking about ND’s lack of voter registration.
