Wow didn't realize sponsoring Kubecon Shanghai was the amount of sending a kid to an ivy league... Those pay-for-play keynotes sure don't come cheap 🤑🤑 https://lists.cncf.io/g/cncf-toc/message/3607 …pic.twitter.com/i59rCMxTXJ

I'd much rather sponsor the open source firmware conference, no pay-for-play. All community. All people helping one another. And a hackathon. The Linux foundation events, on the other hand, just scream disingenuous.

I can't believe they get away with charging for keynotes and charging for admission. The buck stops at me paying to see live advertisements, tyvm.

Would be nice if the Linux Foundation would be transparent with where all the money is spent for conferences... I'm sure they are making a profit off the top (or prove me wrong with real data).

It's unfair to expect a non-IPO commercial company( Linux foundation looks like the one to me) share how they spend their sponsorship income to the public, isn't it? It reminds me an old conversation;-) : https://www.openwall.com/lists/kernel-hardening/2017/05/04/20 …

Basically yes, but LF is a "profitable" NPO which hired more sales and managers than FLOSS maintainers/contributors;)
