From about 1928-36, the building's main occupant (in its western storefront at 107A - 7 Ave W) was the Army and Navy Store, (not the Army and Navy retail chain). The second storefront originally housed the Bee Hive Store, a knitting, yarn, & "notions" shop founded as Greig's Ltd.

From 1900 to 1914, this block transformed from a lightly developed residential block to a bustling commercial centre.
7 Ave declined as a shopping district when 8 Ave became the Stephen Avenue pedestrian mall (1969-70) and 7 Ave became an LRT corridor (1980-81).

The wood storefronts are contained by a pressed metal signband cornice.
The building is part of a streetscape of early-twentieth century structures on the south side of 7 Ave between Centre St & 1 St SW.

Ornamentation was modest, in keeping with the time. The building facade has three bays reflected in the upper parapet, containing three recessed panels. The storefront has a recessed entrance, large display widows with clerestory glazing above and bulkhead at the base.

A ceremony was held at Prince’s Island Park in Mohkinstsis to transfer a Blackfoot tipi to two of our Parks staff members.
Thanks to this new relationship, Calgarians will see programs at the tipis and trapper’s tents during events in downtown parks this summer.
