Whats fascinating about takes like Bloomberg: none of them seem to look at a) local and regional economic development b) historical agricultural production models (and costs of change) or c) greenspace preservation work, amongst a host of other issues. atomistic issue takes only!

  3. I *really* appreciate this shift from individual diets to nourishment, which "encompasses both food and care." This is a 3-minute read with important implications.

  4. If anyone has stories about working with municipalities to increase pollinator habitat, I'd appreciate a link, please. I'm interested in methods of engagement, any codes that needed to be addressed, possible sources of grants, what in-kind resources were helpful, etc.

  5. This is important! I’ve taken to telling people that you can *keep* bees by planting pollinator plants and providing a water source.

  8. Climate change has implications for where people live. Places like Michigan stand to gain a whole lot more people. It’d be good to have an eye towards equity and sustainability in cities in current development plans!

Experiment: the next time you feel tired, worn down, discouraged, afraid, stressed, instead of 'self-care' try out some 'collective care' and see if that changes how you feel.

  10. That means change is contingent on reimagining what we take for granted as a normal life. A more sustainable world will not look the same as what we’ve built albeit w more CO2 reducing tech. We will have to reevaluate at a very basic/foundational level what we’re aiming towards.

  11. I think this is an important perspective. We have to confront entrenched power relationships. However, it gets to a point where ppl recognize that prevailing exchange systems & notions of wellbeing are entangled w fossil fuels.

The biggest story of the climate crisis is WHY none of our governments are acting on it with the means at their disposal and the seriousness it requires. The question is WHY are they not acting? Is it a lack of solutions, uninformed politicians, or something else? A short 🧵. 1/

I understand that climate scientists argue about outcomes of models, but the discussions here make clear why it is folly to focus on reading the C tea leaves. Our negative impact on the planet goes beyond C and are not going to be addressed solely by the deployment of technology
