A landslide win in votes is necessary but not sufficient in this situation. We're going to have to be pains in the ass and take to the streets and not just hold up signs but actually make our voice heard. Look to Belarus as an example.

Let's put it in clearer terms: You're dealing with sociopaths (plural) who will do anything to stay in power as long as it's a net plus for them. Consider how much they've already gotten away with. Why wouldn't they be emboldened to go all the way? We let them, after all.
