Believe me, I've tried to do desktop cpu/phone app models. They've technically worked- the quality was great- but they were probably unacceptably slow for just about anybody. Certainly for Photoshop! 2/

So we'll stick to doing what we do best: Pushing the bleeding edge, and avoiding having to face the complications of deployment as much as possible. What Adobe is doing here is not easy! 3/

Is that the same algorithm as used in Photoshop Elements 2020?https://petapixel.com/2019/10/03/adobe-unveils-photoshop-elements-2020-with-ai-powered-photo-effects-auto-colorize-and-more/ …

I assume not since they're announcing this as a new feature. I am a bit confused though myself.

It would be interesting to see comparisons using same source photo.

Results are pretty yikes
Photoshop on left, #DeOldify (open-source) on right. Granted there are some RGB sliders to adjust when colorizing with PS but I messed around with them a bit and still didn't get anything worthwhile.pic.twitter.com/zAI6ie5Uc2

I hope they took the opportunity to thank all the open source teams and understand the lineage of work that led to their new innovations. This is like a mashup of models from NVidia. First one I looked for was DeOldify. GANs have been commoditized..

I guess you know but there's an android app called colorize which results are certainly unbelievable to work from an smart phone device, but as far as I know there's still nothing similar to colorize videos, that's why I decided to begin to try deoldify and I feel happy for it
