Good move. Lately we have seen a lot of start up with great potential being destroyed by easy money

That's a great endeavour I do hope this decade starts being the one of "startups that actually make financial sense from day 1 (or day 2) and not need pumping money into them" I think these allow such cool projects like yours. Not the next Google, but not everything needs to be

It's probably always a good choice if you can afford it

AFAIK you monetized rather late with your exclusive cooperation, correct? In hindsight do you think an app would have been the better choice? Or would that have distracted you from R&D? (Overhead app dev, infrastructure etc, different "goal")

We were working on an app originally- a colorization model that worked (well!) directly on >= iPhone 6s. We were very close to launching it. But we like this licensing situation much better because now all the sudden we don't have to deal with a bunch of extra complications.

I was embarking down the VC path before lockdown, then the investor suddenly disappeared. It's been tough since, and nearly didn't make it, but I am now glad I stayed on the bootstrap and organic road. As you say, research goals derailed.

It's definitely easier said than done. Good luck!

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but define VC money for me?! I've been following you for a few months now and very much love what you have been able to do. I was on a site and colorized some older pictures I have, what a difference that makes!!!
