1/ Fact check: False. FastAI explicitly only supports Linux and Windows is experimental/not prioritized. They say this on the pip page on Windows: "it should work fine but it's much slower and less well tested". 2/ This is just FastAI. Generally speaking the tech-stack of deep learning just isn't as well supported on Windows. The last thing I'm going to do is try to work around this lack of support in the stack to make a few extra people happy that they don't have to install Linux!
3/ Again, open source DeOldify is not a shiny/nice product/app for the ready consumption of those not comfortable with the Linux/Python tech stack. It's just some research code we put up for free that you can use and learn from if you have the proper background.
I think DeOldify is absolutely incredible and cannot thank you enough for your work on it and for sharing so openly! Hopefully the praise out there outweighs the negatives but I know that the negatives always seem to stick more.
