I may or may not have used it back in the day, but I think Napster may have been what culturally poisoned a lot of thinking about content on the internet that bled into how people think about open source.

I definitely think so. I remember how mad people got at Metallica about taking a stand against it. Hell I was pirating but I found the way people were bending over backwards to pretend it was anything but piracy (stealing) was ridiculous. We don't want to admit we're being bad.

It's okay if you don't open source, Jason! I know you've been getting a lot of comments about how open source is the one and only way, but truth be told, it isn't. I'm curious, do you already have customers for DeOldify? What's their usecase like?

We've licensed exclusively to MyHeritage. People have old photos, we color them! We really like working with them for a number of reasons. Big one is that they're willing to run high quality (computationally expensive) models to achieve great results. No compromises.

The dumpster diving thing- love the idea but I can't imagine ever doing it! Quite brave honestly.

Nothing wrong with wanting to make money but accepting open source as an idea is better should be norm. I don't like bullying commercial projects or anything

Don’t open source this. Monetize it. The open source crowd would want us to pee in communal urinals if it was up to them. Don’t give in.

Some cloud providers started using it already.
