I think this detracts from the fact that the people being criticized here are often the strongest advocates for solving these problems, e.g. through legislation against use of facial recognition tech in law enforcement.

I feel a sense of "whataboutism" in this post because this community also tends to fail to engage in any conversations about bias and fairness.
