Finally. Something to keep in mind on these sorts of forums: They are aggressive about keeping the bubble sealed tight and banning anybody that challenges them. This illusion of certainty is a great way to really warp peoples' minds and it's happening all over the place.https://twitter.com/ericgarland/status/1277733197485400065 …

That hasn’t been my experience. If you’re rude, then yeah you’ll probably get banned, just like you’d probably get blocked on Twitter. But they’re usually willing to talk about ~anything. They talk about similar things and feel similar ways, but that’s true of most groups.

You're talking as if they're just all about civilly participating in the "free market of ideas" and being generally rational with a conservative slant. That is far from the truth. Their first rule was "this forum is for serious supporters". On that basis they banned.

Well, yeah. But they also said “if you’re here to debate, try /r/DebateAltRight” (or whatever it was). I once called them out when they were claiming that the civil war wasn’t really about slavery, and cited Mississippi’s article of secession. The result was a conversation.

But that was my point. They created a bubble that they sealed tight. They banned dissent. It wasn't just rudeness. It was if you disagreed. It was bizarre. Evidence already provided. You weren't challenging their god head on in your example.

Sure. That’s mostly identical to /r/LateStageCapitalism’s playbook, too. It’s pretty common to have a safe space subreddit nowadays, isn’t it? Also a common twitter phenomenon (“agree with me else block”). You’re likely to get conversation out of them if you ask questions.pic.twitter.com/DEfqdcYZYB

Yeah I'm not a big fan of that either. Difference though is what you're promoting. the_donald was full on promoting racist bullshit, conspiracy theories, and other dangerous shit. Again, you can view the webarchive link for a small sampling.

Sure, although LSC tends to promote "eat the rich" type content / sarcastically-but-not-sarcastically mentioning that problems can be solved by beheading those that disagree with them: https://www.reddit.com/r/LateStageCapitalism/comments/7inxaz/when_the_rich_ask_what_the_guillotines_are_for/ … (This is "whataboutism," I think, but it seems valid.)

Yeah that's valid to criticize.
