I mean seriously I guess you could try lowering the render factor in the settings there. That's the best bet- lower the level of detail it's working with. There's advanced settings in a gear icon there.

Thanks, I will have a play with that. I have been thinking about taking photos of a load of statues as a little project, convert everything to B&W then see what they might have looked like as a gallery.
