One cannot deny it's an invaluable reference point, akin to a Polaroid as a guide. @irelandincolour for example, uses #DeOldify among other pieces of software to get as much accuracy as he can when restoring pics.

The main reason for this maybe, is he's an academic & he'll defer to people who may have more info on the particular colour or detail @irelandincolour are unsure of. They also have back-up reference links. He's not afraid to use different techniques either
