One imperfect analogy is gift-giving. I applaud those who donate and give gifts. But that shouldn’t come with the compelled requirement to do similarly with anything, say, made from that gift. To do so basically destroys the idea that it was a gift in the first place.
However if it inspires others toward generosity, and it often does, that’s fantastic.
