But all tech companies do keep certain things a trade secrets. That's the nature of business. There is no way a business can be completely open.

For a young or yet unknown developer who lives with their parents that is also a motivation for sharing since depending on their goals in live they might get interesting job offers or more eyeballs on their work in general.

For an established old fart as me who can start counting the number of good ideas he will still have left in him and who has to pay the rent and health insurance the priorities lie differently.
