And when you die, your work will die with you. Is that really what you want? What do you want out of life? I think about that a lot. Is it really just a rat race until the end? There must be more.

The justifications for closing it up are bogus. I think it's more comfortable to believe "Someone might take my code and sell it!" or "My code is part of my art!" than "I'm worried this will help someone do it better, and then I'll feel less special."
I can tell you this much: MyHeritage definitely doesn't want me to open source the code we just sold them. I know that for sure.

Sure, but that's irrelevant. The question is whether it *matters* if you open source it. You believe it would affect something. But it would change very little. Except people would be able to build off your work, and you'd be contributing back to the community.

I know you think your non-GAN approach is this super secret supercool method that no one will figure out, but it's just a matter of time. If you did, someone else will. Why not take credit for the technique the way you took credit for deoldify?
