Here's something a lot of people still don't know: The latest DeOldify doesn't use GANs anymore. And I'm not being cute with terminology- NoGAN isn't used either. We needed something more production worthy and controllable and it just wasn't cutting it. 1/

Ha believe me, I just try hard. You'd probably be disappointed if you met me. For fun, I routinely do back of napkin calculations like that ("how many people actually clear this/that hurdle") to figure out where we probably are competitively. Can't be too confident but it helps.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. One funny thing is pix2pix is sometimes cited as "GANs are great for colorization", but in the paper we actually found it worked worse than non-GAN methods! I'm not sure people noticed (which maybe helped us). I still love GANs though :)
