1/ With DeOldify being a real business now we invested in 4 Quadro RTX 8000 48GB video cards back in March. Expensive- definitely. Worth it? Totally. I'm now having the revelation of "oh...bigger models and bigger batches do help!" rather than endlessly chasing clever hacks.

I thought you let MyHeritage take care of that. Or are you investing in a separate business with the same model as well?

We strictly license the model (the end result) to them and they host it. We're doing all the training and research with our own hardware and data still and will continue to do that.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing what you build with this. With that kind of power - you might even be able to handle inference for images at a production scale without many issues.

For videos - probably a productionized service makes sense initially. Ask them to submit clips, run inference overnight, and deliver next day. Charge per minute of video. That's probably where there are more lucrative opportunities. :)

Also (sorry I keep adding on to my unsolicited advice :D) - But I feel this is a really great time to be talking to Movie Studios / Entertainment companies.

Because of COVID, they cannot produce movies and shows and are starving of content. Animation demand has sky rocketed already because of this but colorizing old movies could be a huge avenue of 'fresh' content!
