Wow, that's a lot of power right there! What kind of motherboard do you use? I have never been able to get more than 2 GPUs to work on a single pre-built machine.
2/ I built my previous quad card configuration myself with a threadripper and 4 1080tis and that was comparatively easy to figure out a configuration that worked well (MSI board). Only problem I had with that was the usual inevitable hardware hiccups (bad mobo the first time).
Wow, this is almost *exactly* the system that I tried to build a year and a half ago. The only difference is I used Threadripper 2950X and Asus ROG Zenyth board. I think the board was underpowered compared to the one you went with.
