Granted, it hasn't convinced me to leave Twitter (yet), but it's certainly caused a shift in how I use it and where I try to steer myself if I feel I'm going the wrong direction.

Social media is key for resistance, outreach, generosity; for arguments, creating support networks, coordinating actions, helping people, fighting for the right cause. Sure, they are also used for evil. But surrendering them to evil causes and getting isolated is not an answer.

All I can say is I'd read the book if you're interested for counterarguments. I personally walked away thinking "yeah...this shit is fucking up our minds". On the whole, all things considered, I don't think that's worth it.

I didn’t delete my account. But I pretty much stopped using it, disabled notifications and haven’t used it regularly for years now. Regardless of the privacy issues, I hate it even as a product. It just looks so cramped and ugly.
