I think it's time to say the quiet things out loud. It's quite appropriate to be an alarmist right now. We've let things get way out of hand, because we ignored them and let them fester for way too long. We have a President that does nothing but deliberately make things worse.

Alarmist means “someone who exaggerates a danger and so causes needless worry or panic”. It’s possibly the least relevant word to use right now about… almost anything the US govt is doing (same for UK who are clearly envious of the US’s eugenics progress but are working hard).

Yeah poor choice of words on my part. What I had in mind is that it's appropriate to be "that guy" that is inevitably called an "alarmist" because it really actually should be, well, alarming.

I bring it up because populism is about emotional provocation and polarisation through language. Word like alarmist are absolutely core to that playbook. Language matters. What I’m really saying, is anyone calling you alarmist should be called out.
