I guess we are witnessing the post-modern version of the fall of Roman Empire.
The experience is so weird. I'm sure like years from now, hindsight will be 20/20, and people will think "wow, weren't the signs obvious...?" It is obvious, but recognizing that apparently is a huge leap.
