3/ Generally, probably the best way to keep code from getting unmanageable is to be assertive about keeping the requirements manageable. It's one of the most productive things you can do in your job, though the big catch is you have to tread carefully with the politics.

Windows installs for Linux-centric Python AI code can get pretty hairy... I think much of it comes down to the compiler tooling. Windows is a 3rd-class citizen but it's getting better as Microsoft and Linux teams converge, now let's all fix NVidia, Tensorflow and Pytorch repos.

Yeah definitely that, and more generally how much attention is being paid to the platforms. It's a chicken and egg question- admittedly I'm not helping matters by sticking to the easy path (Linux) instead of pushing to get Windows stuff fixed by having DeOldify run there.
