2/ Hence why I don't bother to listen to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Stefan Molyneux, etc. I suspect the widespread failure to appreciate expertise is bolstered by ignoring that character and track record counts.

1/ Even David Icke, the batshit crazy "lizard people" guy, occasionally says something sensible. Regardless, it's a big waste of time to pay attention to anything he says. That is to say, ad hominem attacks can actually be a really useful heuristic and save you a lot of time.
