I agree. I'm a fan of what he's done with Tesla. But he's also an egotistical maniac who has concluded that he's actually a genius. Perhaps he couldn't do the former without the latter, but he's a crushing bore when he goes off piste

These days amygdalas are firing a lot, inhibiting the prefrontal cortex(es) and exciting the adrenal glands into the production of cortisol (blood pressure+; glucose++; etc.) and epinephrine, norepinephrine. The result? Insults, polarized visions, aggressivity in social media.1/

On top of this the capitalistic view of the West where "if you have been once successful in something (i.e.: you got money) automatically your word is more/as valuable as the experts' opinion". (This sucks; we weight reputation over the wrong metrics, imho). The solution 2/

Elon Musk may be sleep deprived. If that is the case mental decline may result in the long term. I hope he starts taking it easier and stops with all the hype driven behavior.

He has some valid criticism, but especially on Twitter he seems to be totally incapable of expressing this in a balanced, careful and responsible manner given the current situation. I’m wondering whether he is aware of what kind of narrative he is pushing with is use of words.

IMO, it's the difference in priorities between the super rich and the rest of us that makes these people seem irrational. Our perspectives have become mutually incomprehensible due to wealth inequality that hasn't existed since the days of empire.
