2/ "I'm here to put out my research and make it so that others can play around with it and make something out of it if they have the technical know-how and persistence to do it. That's it." Wasn't well received, as expected. Sorry. I have self respect and other things to do.

3/ Oh, and if I say Windows is not supported, it's really not going to be supported. And if you're making a custom fork and then run into problems because you inadvertently introduced a problem, then I'm not here to be your remote debugger and mind reader!

Unfortunately I recently had to (implicitly) tell someone the same thing, by just not responding to them. Maybe I'll be more explicit. It breaks my heart, though. I want to help everyone. I've just barely been getting sleep, since there's so much to do.

Yeah not sure what the best approach is yet. I'm taking the Linus Torvalds explicit asshole approach to get the points across. I feel like otherwise the message isn't clear. Don't feel bad about it! You can't do it all and that's really the point.

As a maintainer of multiple open source projects, I've been struggling with a proper way to respond to feature requests on GitHub... I'm starting to request private email communication to discuss costs of implementation when it makes sense...
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I’m extremely fortunate in that I actually get paid to develop a specific set of “needs/wants”, and then any extra time I can spend adding things I want to. Even then, there’s a lot of “well if you really need that then I’m happy to accept a merge request”

Considering all you've personally invested in this brilliant project; putting your source code out there at all is a huge gift to the public (and shows your passion for what you do). You have every right to deny anyone who thinks it's okay to *demand* anything from you.
-
It is no doubt a struggle with wanting to help but feeling you have to defend saying no. It is the unfortunate side of opening up to mass public exposure... at some point you have to draw a hard line just because of a handful of a-holes. Feels shitty, but it's a sad truth
