Imagine that you are conducting a coding interview (Leetcode-style) in Python. You pose a question, and the candidate codes it as a script with global variables, not as a class or function. How bad is it?

At first glance it's really off putting. But I'd want to ask the candidate their line of reasoning for doing that. There's a possibility that they're simply weighing practical considerations. Perhaps the scope of the script and its use cases are trivial, for example.
