The combination of selfishness and denial of reality being exhibited by -a lot- of people around the coronavirus has been truly mind-boggling. I hope criminal charges are posted for people like these. Here is India we had a person with suspected status break quarantine and take flight and train, came positive in further tests. I am seething with rage at the selfishness of these people.

Yep, democracy works as intended. People decide and decide badly, mainly because they vote for representatives like them, not better. The next step in democracy can only be to add in the Constitution the protection of the long-term good of citizens. Difficult but not impossible.
