I had a talk about this with my gf, and she had a great point: most of these books are entertainment, not educational references. Changed my view on most non-fiction. Just like YT videos: they're primarily entertainment, then educational, not the other way around.
I highly recommend this thread and the referenced article about Malcom Gladwell. Grossly oversimplified narratives about how the world works make lots of money and make the readers feel smart. I have very mixed feelings about that stance. It's basically an easy out for those putting misnformation out there knowingly. "It's just entertainment bro!" I mean...they're marketed as more than just entertainment, right?
