Retweeting because I'm curious as to others' thoughts on this. I can change my mind but I'm just not convinced. I reiterate my position in comment (it's too risky for a bootstrapped startup to try, basically).https://twitter.com/theshawwn/status/1231561284035833856 …

I love the tech. Have you considered a free version that adds a watermark? With an option to pay to have the watermark removed if people like the colorized image generated.

We were indeed considering that with our own app (if that happens). We're still not certain if it's a great idea though. Running these servers costs a lot of money. Encouraging lots free users to run up costs? We've seen that go bad elsewhere with DeOldify based apps.

From a user perspective it's an incredible step forward, but it isn't quite reliable enough to justify signing up for a subscription yet. E.g. I tried this photo earlier in the week. The grass, the ball, the shorts, both men and the background are flawless. But... (1/?)pic.twitter.com/xRV2oCqE8d

... unfortunately the team these guys played for were green and white, but it's being rendered as blue, which is so frustrating. If I had an option to fine tune that I'd be entering my card details instead of tweeting you. And I realise that if you can square this circle (2/?)

the revenue will allow you to make that sort of improvement and launch an app etc. All those good things cost money and it's obviously very close. The good news is that if/when you work it out you won't have to worry about money anymore.

Yeah we realize it's still far from perfect, and that the value of it to users is not the same for everybody. There's a path forward for what you're talking about (color corrections) and I'm pretty optimistic about the feasibility. It'll just take more time. Now we have that.

Best of luck. I love the tech and I think you'll get it right. If you're ever setting up in Ireland (very attractive corporate tax rates) and need to hire a QA guy let me hit you up with a CV
