If you ever feel like telling someone working hard for basically free, that you "bet an AI could do their job", maybe read this thread first and put your money where your mouth is. Nick Brown @sTeamTraenI've lost count of the number of people who, on hearing about GRIM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRIM_test ) say "it ought to be possible to get an AI to read papers and work out what numbers go into calculating a mean". So far nobody seems to have started coding that, though. https://twitter.com/MicrobiomDigest/status/1228970326291251200 …1 reply 0 retweets 4 likesShow this thread -

And you can even *actually do the work*, develop the AI for years, and still be humble and gracious about it! Because someone who pours a lot of time into making things work will be more respectful that someone who only does experiments in their head

Jason Antic @citnajTake it from me, the creator of DeOldify:@marinamaral2 is right! There’s a vast difference in what we’re doing. We serving different purposes. She creates well researched, beautifully colored art. I create a tool that can add new life to a photo but isn’t close to her work. https://twitter.com/marinamaral2/status/1227665485661134848 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 7 likesShow this thread
Thanks! Admittedly I’d probably be one of those people who’d jump to saying “ML could probably do that” two years ago. But then I spent two years nudging “AI” just hoping it wouldn’t have numbers shoot off to inf again.
