Human art won't go away but it may be drowned out by massive amounts of AI-generated art. Much like handmade goods vs mass production. A problem only if art is made to sell, and not for art's sake.

Agreed. It really boils down to whether we continue to support and value art for art’s sake. That’s why I feel compelled to talk about this. I don’t want to be contributing to the dystopia you describe!

Machine-made carpets did not replace hand made ones in general, but they did in the "cheap floor object" category. I expect art will further concentrate most of its profits in fewer human hands, but won't outright replace humans.
