@citnaj I know you're not directly responsible for the DeepAI implementation of DeOldify, but I wanted to let you know about my experience.
1) Washed out images. Washed out, or over bright images, do not color correctly, regardless of whether or not they have been adjusted
Preprocessing is very tricky. The best results I've gotten are from just making the images a bit sharper and doing auto-contrast. But that will still cause problem sometimes depending on the image.

I understand. As I've put it, it's all about the information that's available in the photo itself. Silver stock, Kodachrome, and washed-out or dark images all impact how much information you have to process. If everything looks white, nothing can magically identify the color.
