Although I got hooked on Metropolis by the Georgio Moroder version when it was shown on Channel 4 (and my VHS copy got battered by the numbers who wanted to borrow it), I'm not aware of enough colour material which exists for this to be anything other than guesswork.
There’s some degree of certainty with certain things (skin, vegetation, metals, etc). Other things like clothes and special effects- those are going to be more up in the air and essentially yes- the ai is doing (educated) guesswork.
