Just started experimenting on the deep learning project DeOldify by @citnaj. Gotta hand it off, you've done an excellent job. The rendering on videos is almost near perfect with also the option to control the render rate( depending on your GPU ) . Here are a few samples .pic.twitter.com/N7hzOtIthO

Not only is the color contrast really good but it also takes care of dynamic range in lowly lit environment. Here is a look at one of favourite b/w movies.pic.twitter.com/RmKuZIkvJj

Fair play it does a job on stills but how can you be happy with that for video? The colours change every frame?! If there was some way to set an input then it’d be a far more useful piece of tech imo

There is a way actually. You can combine this with EbSynth to get the best of both worlds. I’ve done it myself, editing Deoldified key frames with photoshop. That being said, DeOldify isn’t perfect but the unreleased version is much better :)

Yes I’ve used EBSynth, but at that stage isn’t it easier to create frames manually anyway? I take your point for reasonably steady shots, but for anything with high movement it comes undone. I really like the potential deoldify has, so please don’t take it negatively!

The idea of using deoldify to create key-frames for EBSynth amuses me immensely. As you say, why not just colourise key frames to a much higher & more realistic standard manually? Unless it is for people without any artistry at all. But that's less deoldify and more de-artify.
