I just saw this paper. It's literally DeOldify. Yet no mention. I know this likeness is not a coincidence because I talked to one of the authors about it months ago before it went up. I won't name names. http://openaccess.thecvf.com/content_CVPRW_2019/papers/NTIRE/Sharma_Robust_Image_Colorization_Using_Self_Attention_Based_Progressive_Generative_Adversarial_CVPRW_2019_paper.pdf …

I somehow have a feeling that authors did it intentionally, but thinking that they are just using some open-source code on github. So, may not need a citation. Authors don't seem to be aware that it falls under plagiarism.

From my experience at IISc, I can understand how this could've happened. Professors trust graduate students to cite appropriate work. They do not do a literature survey to verify citations. And graduate students don't get enough ethical training to make proper decisions.

The student might have looked for a paper for DeOldify, but couldn't find it. And felt that citing github repo is not a standard practice, so just left it out. (At least I hope this is what happened!)

There’s a pattern of intent well established here. And it’s eight of them on that paper btw
