Because the burden of proof for smearing somebody and ruining their life publicly with association to a child rapist should be a bit higher than just “of course he knew!” No. We have a trial system for this reason. These Twitter threads are scary.
Yes, I don't like jumping to conclusions and ruining people's lives without sufficient evidence. So where's the actual evidence to warrant this? Guilt by mere (weak!) association is not that. This is all beyond scary. I'll gladly own the douche label lol
Victims & people who have worked w/ them know there is a space btwn the trial system and "of course he knew!" Dismissing it completely b/c of outrage is a bad way of reacting to others' outrage. Experience tells me to be careful abt accusing Pinker & about attacking those who do.
The ones accusing Pinker aren’t victims or claiming to be so. They’re just mobbing up on him. Quite frankly as far as I can tell here the actual victim in this situation is Pinker himself. Before I get angry responses- again, no proof he knew.
