This isn’t confined to just Twitter. “My ignorance is as valid as your expertise” is a strangely common thing and it’s having really bad consequences (science denialism, for example). I think it’s really about people feeling under attack by “outsiders.” Experts can maybe help de-escalate by “being on the same team” and avoiding corrections that attack, as opposed to re-orient.
