@farfromallover This is the exact point I was trying to prove about Deoldify. It's just not as good as manual colorization. I have colorized a photo of The Second Doctor myself. It turned out marvellous
I, the creator of DeOldify, certainly am not trying to argue that it's better than manual colorization! There's a lot of reasons for why that is. Historical accuracy is lacking for one. But also the colors just aren't great yet. There's a path forward but it's just more work.

DeOldify is a remarkable project but it's still very early. Judging it now is like judging the potential of cars on the basis of the Model T alone without acknowledging the capacity for it to evolve into a modern Mercedes-Benz.
