Oh man well I’d say there’s still a ways to go there for sure. First, the colorization itself still has big room for improvement in terms of both historical accuracy and diversity. Second, restoration itself technically isn’t happening here.

Of course, but to the untrained eye DoOldify is already close to "restoration"...;) having said that, let's not forget the fabric fantastic job Jackson did in "reinventing" the missing audio and dialogue

That's a great point. You could say the same about this late 1890s Paris video that was just colorized by DeOldify and sound was definitely fabricated. But people really do seem to like it as it really helps to make it relatable.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC_EVr468TI …
