Yes on ImageNet being the only training set. What I do is convert the original ImageNet photos to black and white for training, and augment them as well with brightness/contrast/Gaussian noise. Key thing is both input/target get the same augs.

Amazing how good old ImageNet could handle this tricky task. I’m a pytorch guy but this is a great project worth investing time in learning TF. Thanks for the good work!

Pretty sure deOldify is all pytorch and fastai, not tensorflow.
