Did you want to retain the flickering (ie old times film aesthetic) and lighting variations? The colorization would be even more impressive without the flicker.

@pastaduck or@citnaj but I think correcting flicker is easy enough using related approaches. But what the flicker here reveals is perhaps the most impressive part of DeOldify: It works frame-by-frame! The fact that each frame is the same color is insane.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -
I deliberately focused on preserving all other aspects of the film besides color in the colorization, with the intent that you can correct for other things like fade and flicker separately. It’s on my radar! I just consider it a better approach this way.
