When I got to my team at Google, it was kind of a mess, and I'm just now (almost two years later, and recently becoming team lead) starting to get this codebase to a place where we can do powerful, meaningful work.

Any tips on quickly wrapping your head around an unfamiliar codebase, quickly, in a language you don't really know? :)
Read and apply Refactoring by Martin Fowler. Best investment in my brain that I’ve made yet.
