I should mention books that are work and I can’t take a picture of: Pragmatic Programmer, Code Complete, Refactoring. All great books, and they’re really about how to use your mind effectively.

Is refactoring language specific or would it be helpful for Python? One of my goals this year is to improve my programming chops.
Not at all language specific! It's a very generalized concept. Definitely helpful for Python. The overarching goal is to make code readable and understandable.
