Yeah you bring up something quite important. I do think expectations in software work culture are absurd and amount to trying to “have your cake and eat it too” when it comes to how we spend our time. My best solution to easing this in asking for code in hiring is to allow
(cont) a number of options- GitHub code if available, or just have them do code at the interview on a toy problem that’s still informative. I used to advocate code homework (more can be done) but that too is asking way too much I think now. Ideally, if it were just me, I’d

This makes a lot of sense, thank you. I also believe business acumen and proven track record of value generation is as equally important (if not more). After all code is merely a tool.
