Would you expect to retrain weighs if you had a genre of photos with people of colour or would the pre-trained weights provide a good fit?

Empirically it seems the pretrained weights, updated with Imagenet, works just fine- at least to my eyes. I have a bunch of examples- you can peruse them in the photos and videos section on the left hand side in my Twitter page.

I was asking as I am in New Zealand and would like to try and colourise some of the old b/w Maori images. Many have facial tattoos and I was wondering if training would help with skin tones and picking up the tattoo colour.
